VERITAS Software Corporation today announced the lates version of its VERITAS NetBackup software.
The company said VERITAS NetBackup 4.5 offers new capabilities that automate disaster recovery solutions and more cost-effectively manage global data backup and recovery operations for even the largest databases or enterprise environments.
According to VERITAS, VERITAS NetBackup 4.5 further automates disaster recovery with the addition of VERITAS NetBackup Vault, an off-site tape backup management solution that protects users against site disaster by automating the rotation of tapes offsite. In addition, VERITAS NetBackup 4.5 is now available with a bare metal restore option to minimize downtime in the event of a catastrophic loss or corruption of server hardware. The company said VERITAS NetBackup Bare Metal Restore accelerates full system recovery by automatically reinstalling the operating system, reconfiguring the system to its previous state, and recovering user data across the network.
Other features include enhanced backup and recovery of Oracle databases; integrated data snapshot technologies; and extended data migration to reduce total cost of ownership. VERITAS NetBackup DataCenter 4.5 is slated to be available globally this April.
