“BackupReport Suite 2.0 solidifies Bocada’s leadership in helping organizations quickly and measurably improve their ability to protect critical data while substantially reducing costs,” said Steve Duplessie, Senior Analyst for The Enterprise Storage Group, in a press release. “The unique, agentless, multi-vendor approach ensures that almost every organization can immediately benefit from BackupReport without altering existing data protection systems or processes.”
BackupReport Suite 2.0 delivers a centralized view of all critical backup activity across data protection operations managed multiple heterogeneous backup servers. Through four integrated modules, the Suite collects, stores, analyzes and distributes information on data protection operations irrespective of the operating system or data protection architecture in use. According to Brocada, BackupReport Suite is the only Storage Intelligence solution that does not require deployment of software agents.
BackupReport Suite 2.0 features numerous enhancements, including:
- New IBM TSM Support means users of IBM TSM will now enjoy the same cost-savings and data protection benefits as users of data protection products from CA, IBM, HP, Legato, Microsoft and VERITAS.
- Increased Media Intelligence saves data recovery and media management costs by analyzing the utilization and throughput of storage devices and media, and by identifying bottlenecks and media damage.
- New customization features, including user-defined Zones and Custom Reports, enable IT staff to tailor their analyses and reports to the unique needs and polices of multiple constituents in their enterprise.
“By using BackupReport, we maximized our tape backup capacity and shrank our daily backup window by over 30 percent, while absorbing more than 300GB of data growth,” said Adam Ladd, Senior System Administrator, Reader’s Digest, in a prepared statement. “In terms of reduced administrative costs, a daily report that previously took two hours to create manually now takes about one second with BackupReport.”
