BakBone Software has announced the the availability of VaultDR Online Client Application Plugin Module (APM), an optional new APM that allows users the ability to create a block-by-block disaster recovery image of Windows clients without having to take the system off-line.
Using the VaultDR Online Client APM, disaster recovery backups are performed while the operating system and applications are online and active. BakBone says recovery is performed via the VaultDR APM (bare metal restore) without having to manually re-install the base operating system. The VaultDR APM provides recovery of the operating system, applications, system settings, partition information and data in the case of a disaster scenario.
VaultDR Online integrates an OEM version of St. Bernard Software’s Open File Manager, a disk-based open file solution that enables enterprise application providers to easily embed live data protection technology into backup, imaging or other data protection applications.
BakBone’s complete line of NetVault APMs seeks to provide continuous data availability by providing on-line backup and recovery for applications such as DB2, Informix, Oracle, Sybase, SQL and SAP. Local and remote client software installations and automatic client backup and restores can be administered across the network, from a centralized management console.
The VaultDR Online Client APM is available now for Windows NT and Windows 2000.
The VaultDR APM (bare metal restore) is available for all Intel-based NetVault Clients platforms including FreeBSD, Linux, SCO UNIX, Solaris x86, Unixware, Windows 95/98/ME, Windows NT, Windows 2000 and more.
