Bottom Line

Unlike most software-defined storage (SDS) solutions, StorMagic SvSAN was designed for edge computing environments rather than data centers. This is a distinct niche but an important one, given how edge computing is growing.

Otherwise known as the Internet of Things, edge computing creates an enormous amount of data. That StorMagic is moving ahead of the market to service this sector show real industry foresight. That said, it is a still a small company, not well known.

The solution has much to recommend it: StorMagic SvSAN emphasizes simple management, low costs and flexibility. Given the complexity and potential expense of edge computing, those companies focused on IoT may well consider StorMagic.
