CA has combined technology acquired from iLumin and MDY to create a new compliance and e-discovery offering.
CA said its new Information Governance offering gives “secure, accurate, timely access to information across multi-vendor environments without the need to modify or replace existing repositories or business processes.”
The IT vendor said its offering stands out from other products on the market by being “infrastructure agnostic” and providing a broad range of pre-packaged and Department of Defense (DoD) 5015.2-certified integrations with other repositories. Users can manage e-mail archive content in accordance with corporate retention policies, apply policy and controls to all content, and classify content based on its business value, regardless of where it resides.
“To reduce risk and fulfill their legal, regulatory and corporate obligations, organizations need to find the easiest, least disruptive and most cost-effective way to manage mushrooming volumes of critical business information,” stated Galina Datskovsky, certified records manager (CRM) and senior vice president of development at CA. “CA’s infrastructure-agnostic approach meets all these requirements by empowering customers to establish an Information Governance platform that can evolve with their ever-changing IT strategies and business needs.”
CA said companies have a hard time manage and controlling information because it is often dispersed across a wide range of systems and locations, including document management systems, collaboration systems, e-mail archives and physical documents. But penalties for failing to produce documents in e-discovery cases has made it important to get a handle on all that data.
CA said only IBM comes close to its support of “all types of content in all types of systems,” creating a cost-effective and flexible information governance approach.
The product also offers centralized policy management for controlling physical, electronic and e-mail records across the enterprise; comprehensive e-mail management, consisting of integrated records management, mailbox management, e-discovery and supervision capabilities for archiving, managing and tracking e-mail; and automated data discovery, classification and management across heterogeneous storage environments.
