ARMONK, N.Y. and WALLDORF, Germany — IBM is partnering with SAP to offer a business software suite by SAP — and introducing its own offering to implement the product.

IBM is a “premium” supplier of RISE with SAP and rolling out related consulting and offerings under the banner Breakthrough with IBM for RISE with SAP, according to IBM last month.

The partnership is intended to help customers embrace a hybrid cloud approach and move mission-critical workloads from SAP software to the cloud.

As a premium supplier of RISE with SAP, IBM will give customers the tools to accelerate the migration of their on-premises SAP software workloads to IBM Cloud, including security capabilities. The designation is part of SAP’s efforts to “provide choice” to end users, by supporting IBM clients that want their RISE with SAP package to run on IBM Cloud.

Under IBM’s related offering, Breakthrough with IBM for RISE with SAP, IBM will help customers plan, execute, and support “holistic business transformation.”

IBM has also made a “significant investment” in RISE with SAP to help transform its own business.

Together, IBM and SAP have worked with hundreds of clients on thousands of projects to “modernize” their systems and business processes based on a hybrid cloud approach.

“We are thrilled to advance our long-standing partnership through RISE with SAP,” said John Granger, SVP, IBM Consulting.

“Our shared commitment is to meet our clients, especially those in highly regulated industries, where they are in their digital journey.”

Brian Duffy, president of cloud at SAP, said he has “every confidence” that the combined expertise and experience of SAP and IBM will “accelerate cloud adoption and business growth for customers across the globe.”
