has unveiled a collection of storage consolidation and business continuity solutions that simplifies storage infrastructures, maintains uptime and allows quick recovery from disruptions. The new and enhanced solutions build on HP’s ENSAextended strategy to enable management of heterogeneous storage with open, modular network storage. The new StorageWorks products include:
- HP StorageWorks Virtual Array 7110 (va7110)
- HP StorageWorks Director 2/140
- StorageWorks Edge Switch 2/24
- HP StorageWorks Consolidation Solution
HP also announced this week major enhancements to the HP StorageWorks Modular SAN Array 1000 that drive down the cost of entry-level storage area network
(SAN) solutions and broaden support for customers with heterogenous server environments. The MSA1000 is a modular, entry-level Fibre Channel storage array that enables companies to easily move from direct-attach storage (DAS) to SANs as the foundation of a company’s adaptive infrastructure, increasing a business’ ability to quickly and efficiently respond to change. In its second year of availability, the MSA1000 now supports multi-cluster servers to simplify storage management and increase utilization of storage
resources. HP has doubled the maximum capacity to six terabytes (TB) and improved performance by up to 80 percent over the previous version with the
availability of larger, faster drives and enhanced firmware. And finally, HP signed a memorandum of understanding with Cisco Systems, Inc. to resell its line of MDS fabric switches. In the first half of 2003, HP will qualify and offer the Cisco MDS line of fabric switches in HP StorageWorks SANs. This allows HP StorageWorks customers to choose solutions from a range of HP infrastructure partners, delivered and supported by HP.
