INRANGE Techologies’ IN-VSN(TM) FC/9000 Fibre Channel Director has completed Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) qualification testing and is fully supported through HDS for FICON connectivity with Hitachi Freedom Storage Lightning 9900 Series systems.

“With the ability to scale to 256-ports, the FC/9000 meets and exceeds the current ESCONcapabilities. Our Lightning 9900 customers will be able to leverage this scalability to simplify their mainframe infrastructure and reduce operational costs as they migrate from ESCON to FICON,” stated Marlene Woodworth, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Global Marketing and Operations, Hitachi Data Systems.

The companies’ said FICON support for the FC/9000 is the latest milestone in INRANGE’s business relationship with Hitachi Data Systems, in which HDS remarkets and supports both the 64-port and 128-port models of INRANGE’s Fibre Channel directors. Also included in this agreement is INRANGE’s Virtual Storage Networking (IN-VSN) family of storage networking products and its suite of IN-VSN Advanced Storage Networking Services.
