米カリフォルニア州サンノゼ — Kioxia Americaは、新たな組み込みフラッシュメモリデバイスを発表する。

Kioxia Americaは先月、物理層インターフェースMIPI M-PHY v. 5.04に対応するUniversal Flash Storage(UFS)組み込みフラッシュメモリデバイスの「サンプル」を開発したと発表した。

同デバイスは、スマートフォンをはじめとするさまざまなモバイルアプリケーション向けに設計され、高速な読み書き性能を実現する。

Kioxiaは、次世代UFSによって性能が大幅に向上し、スマートフォンやその他のモバイル製品が「5G時代以降に、機能とエンドユーザー体験を強化」できるようになると考えている。

次世代UFSの理論上のインターフェース速度は、HS-GEAR5モードでレーン当たり最大23.2 Gbpsに達する。

Kioxiaの最新デバイスラインアップには同社のBiCS FLASH 3Dフラッシュメモリが採用され、容量は128 GB、256 GB、512 GBの3種類を用意する。

前世代のデバイスと比べ、256 GBデバイスのシーケンシャル読み取り性能は約90%、書き込み性能は約70%向上している。

256 GBデバイスのランダム読み取り性能は約35%、書き込み性能は約60%向上しており、前世代のデバイスを上回る。

「今後もこれらの進歩を推進し、UFSメモリにおけるリーダーシップを維持していきます」と、Kioxia Americaのメモリ事業部門担当バイスプレジデント、Scott Beekman氏は述べた。
