DataCore Software today announced that Hitachi will sell SANsymphony storage management software through an OEM partnership. Hitachi said that it would immediately take advantage of this partnership by reselling SANsymphony version 5.0 into its flagship Japanese home market.
Ikuo Kimura, chief operating officer and general manager, Storage Area Network Systems Solution Division of Hitachi said, “Customers are demanding a synergy of management software and intelligent storage systems to reduce total cost of ownership. SANsymphony strengthens Hitachi storage solutions for effective utilization, greater flexibility and availability.”
Hitachi recognizes many significant benefits by partnering with DataCore: Added data protection and disaster recovery capabilities, new data migration services, increased savings from effective capacity and storage system utilization, plus greater productivity from automation and flexibility of storage volume management.
“We couldn’t be more pleased with the relationship with Hitachi,” said Ziya Aral, chairman of DataCore. “Hitachi already builds the best high-end and mid-range storage hardware and has the most customer-oriented sales channel. With the announcement of its new software initiatives and with the realization of this broad agreement with DataCore, Hitachi has also shown its embrace of open technology and its recognition of its customers’ desires for heterogeneity and flexibility. DataCore supports Hitachi’s goal of becoming the leading company in this important segment and will work diligently with them to help achieve those goals.”
Bill North, IDC’s director of research for storage software points out, “DataCore has been a pioneer in the development of open network storage virtualization, and has established itself as a leader in this emerging market. The combination of Hitachi hardware and DataCore software should allow customers to realize storage management benefits that, to date, have been difficult or impossible to achieve.”
