サンマテオ(米カリフォルニア州)—データ環境プラットフォームのHammerspaceとデータストレージ企業Seagate Technologyが、技術統合に取り組んでいる。

Hammerspaceは、SeagateのオブジェクトストレージサービスLyve CloudとブロックストレージデバイスExos CORVAULTにまたがる自動データオーケストレーションと統合データアクセスを提供すると、先月、両社は発表した。

この協業は、Seagateのパブリッククラウド型ストレージ・アズ・ア・サービスプラットフォームと、エッジ、分散型データセンター、クラウドにあるデータをHammerspaceのグローバルなデータ環境で統合リソースにまとめる機能を、顧客が組み合わせられるようにすることを目的としている。

Lyve Cloudは、マルチクラウド環境におけるグローバルデータの流れを顧客が管理できるよう設計された、ストレージ専用クラウドだ。ユーザーはデータセットを保存、アクセス、移動しながら、データを完全に制御できる。

Hammerspaceは、分散したユーザー、アプリケーション、データを統合するよう設計されている。ユーザーは、Lyve Cloudからデータセンター、エッジまで、マルチサイトのハイブリッドクラウド全体でストレージ、管理、サービスの利用に必要なデータへアクセスできる。

Seagateのビジネスおよびマーケティング担当シニアバイスプレジデント(SVP)Jeff Fochtman氏は、企業は「増え続ける膨大なデータセットの取得、収益化、保持に苦慮している」と述べた。

Fochtman氏によると、この協業により顧客は、Lyve Cloudがデータのイングレス(取り込み)やエグレス(取り出し)に料金を課さないため、「データ移動の経済性に基づく妥協なしに」、Hammerspaceを使ってデータ環境を構築できる。

Hammerspaceが「データをあらゆる場所へオーケストレーション」することで、ユーザーは「データがどこにあるかにかかわらず、ローカルでデータにアクセスできる」と、Hammerspaceの戦略・事業開発担当シニアバイスプレジデント(SVP)Tony Asaro氏は述べた。
