DataMirror , a provider of enterprise application integration and resiliency solutions, today announced it has joined the EMC Developers Program.
As part of the program, DataMirror announced iCluster for EMC Symmetrix, a new version of DataMirror’s application-aware resiliency software that is interoperable with EMC Symmetrix Remote Data Facility (SRDF) and EMC TimeFinder software. EMC and DataMirror said these solutions will help customers achieve the highest possible levels of data and application availability, resiliency and reliability on IBM iSeries and AS/400 systems.
According to the companies, DataMirror iCluster complements EMC SRDF and TimeFinder software by providing:
Two recovery options – iCluster for EMC Symmetrix enables companies to implement two separate recovery databases for enhanced resiliency. Each recovery database utilizes a different mirroring technique providing two independent recovery environments.
Highly efficient data and workload distribution – iCluster for EMC Symmetrix allows the recovery database to be available on a read-only basis while data is being mirrored. This allows read-only applications like query and reporting to be offloaded from the production server to the recovery server.
High Speed Operational Switchover – In the event of an unplanned outage, iCluster for EMC Symmetrix reduces the downtime of mission critical applications and minimizes the business impact of outages by allowing users to rapidly go back on-line within minutes.
Eliminate tape backup interruptions – iCluster for EMC Symmetrix allows a reliable tape backup to be performed from the recovery server at a known integrity point without users experiencing any interruption on the production server.
Disaster avoidance and recovery – iCluster for EMC Symmetrix utilizes low bandwidth asynchronous communications which allows customers to locate their recovery server in another city or anywhere in the world.
