CommVault Supports StorageTek

CommVault Systems, a provider of enterprise data management solutions, and Storage Technology Corporation Inc. (StorageTek) , an expert in high-performance, efficient digitized data storage, today announced the availability of the CommVault Galaxy, version 3.7, data management software solution for StorageTek Automated Cartridge System Library Software (ACSLS) release 6.0 (and greater) environments.

StorageTek ACSLS is a UNIX-based library-enablement application that functions as the central service provider for all library operations. The extension of Galaxy support for ACSLS enables customers to store and retrieve data from the entire family of StorageTek Tape Libraries — from the L-series to the enterprise-class PowderHorn libraries.

With this wide range of support, the combination of CommVault Galaxy software and StorageTek Libraries provides enterprise customers with automated tape storage and access to libraries housing large amounts (terabytes or petabytes) of stored data.

CommVault Galaxy version 3.7 offers a unified, scalable data protection solution for distributed, heterogeneous environments, including UNIX, Linux, Windows, Netware, Oracle, SQL Server, Microsoft Exchange, SharePoint Portal Server, Lotus Notes, NAS devices and SAN architectures.

With Galaxy, policy-based data protection can now be enforced across operating environments and applications, helping users simplify complex storage networks. Its robust media management provides flexible control of backup libraries, drives and media that is comprehensive, automated and transparent. Complete coverage of StorageTek libraries enables existing customers to more fully utilize their library investments to backup data from departmental and enterprise Windows and UNIX environments to any or all of these available libraries.
