As the volume of global data increases, the data storage market is growing, and those companies are hiring personnel to develop and manage more solutions for their customers.
The following storage companies have many open positions and advanced storage technology as well as high employee ratings and opportunities for employees in the field to grow.
Top Data Storage Companies Hiring
1. NetApp
Storage provider NetApp is known for its software-defined storage (SDS) and flash offerings.
A sampling of current open NetApp positions include:
- Technical marketing engineer, object storage
- Senior quality assurance engineer, cloud storage
- Information system engineer
- Cloud solutions engineer
- Technical support engineer, data protection
NetApp also has numerous open sales representative positions, including a role handling accounts for hybrid cloud data and data management products. Sales positions are open in multiple offices: including North Carolina, U.S.; Bangalore, India; and Tokyo.

2. Hewlett Packard Enterprise
Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) is one of the major storage providers, offering hyperconverged storage, cloud-native storage, and servers. If potential applicants want to dive into newer storage technologies, HPE has options such as Synergy, software for composable infrastructure, and Nimble, a disaggregated hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) solution.

3. Pure Storage
Pure Storage is one of the top all-flash providers in the storage market.
Pure Storage currently has around 180 open positions, including engineering roles for FlashBlade and Flash Array, two of its all-flash products. Current roles open at Pure Storage include:

Pure Storage aims to analyze candidate suitability by testing real-world abilities throughout the interview process. Screening performance through assessments helps candidates show how they’ll actually work within the business, according to Angela Miller, senior director of global talent acquisition and operations, Pure Storage.

4. Red Hat
Virtualization and storage provider Red Hat offers several platforms, including Gluster Storage, a software-defined storage system, and Ceph Storage, scalable SDS for hardware of the customer’s choice.
Red Hat has many open storage-focused positions, such as:
- Senior hybrid cloud specialist solutions architect
- Senior container architect, infrastructure, Nordics
- Cloud infrastructure and storage architect

Red Hat focuses on connecting storage solutions to modern technology, according to Brett Compton, senior director of the data foundation business team at Red Hat.
”As we aren’t a hardware vendor or a more traditional storage provider, we focus on helping our employees gain the skills to break down the traditional storage silo and better link enterprise storage needs with the dynamism of a hybrid cloud world,” Compton said.
“This means more of a holistic approach to the interplay of software-defined storage technologies with Kubernetes platforms, Linux containers, serverless offerings, edge computing, and other modern technological concepts.”
Red Hat prepares its employees to develop solutions for modern data needs, such as disaggregation.
“Put even more bluntly, we decouple cloud-native data services from proprietary storage infrastructure, which helps address current needs for traditional storage integrations, while gaining the agility to meet enterprise digital transformation requirements.”
For its data services positions, Red Hat particularly looks for candidates who are interested in open-source technologies.
“The future of data services is built from the innovations of open-source communities, which to Red Hat centers around the Ceph and Rook projects, key components of our data services offerings for modern IT,” Compton said.
“So it’s really three factors that Red Hat looks for in hiring technical associates — familiarity with open-source technologies, experience or know-how in the shift to cloud-native data services, and a genuine curiosity to learn and adapt to the changing landscape.”
